Corduroy care
in three steps
Men's corduroy is one of the iconic fabrics in the Hartford men's wardrobe. Used for men's corduroy shirts as well as for men's corduroy pants , jackets and accessories, it seduces with its texture and tactile richness. Available in several variations, ribbed seersucker with a unique texture, babycord milleraies with very fine ribs and corduroy with medium ribs (11 wales), it is always a cotton velvet that requires careful maintenance. Here are three key steps to maintain the beauty and hold of your pieces over time:

STEP 1
WASHING MEN'S CORDUROY CLOTHES
For all three types of Hartford men's corduroy, we recommend machine washing at a maximum of 30°C on a gentle cycle to preserve the fiber and texture of the fabric. Avoid bleaching at all costs, which weakens the fabric and alters its deep color. For optimal results, turn your pieces inside out before washing and limit friction with other fabrics.

No bleaching.
STEP 2
DRYING MEN'S CORDUROY CLOTHES
Drying men's corduroy clothing is a crucial step in ensuring its longevity. Tumble drying is not recommended: the heat flattens the ribs and distorts the fabric. Instead, air dry flat or on a hanger, avoiding direct sunlight. If ironing is necessary, use a cool iron (110°C maximum) and always work from the reverse side of the fabric to avoid marking the velvet. A light steaming can also restore volume to the ribs.
Natural drying, never machine drying.
Gentle ironing (110°C max), always on the reverse side.

STEP 3
PRESERVING YOUR MEN'S CORDUROY CLOTHES
To prolong the life of your men's corduroy pieces, daily maintenance is essential. Gently brush your clothes after use with a soft brush to remove dust. Store them on hangers for jackets and shirts, and carefully folded for trousers, to avoid any marking.
