presentation

I’ve been working at Hartford for nine years as a designer for woven and knitwear. I mainly design shirts, pants, coats, jackets, dresses, and tops, with the exception of knitwear and T-shirts. Part of my work involves more technical pieces that incorporate embroidery and special fabrics such as faux fur or double-faced fabric. Another important part involves other garments, where I develop prints, stripes, and other specific details to create unique designs.

Can you tell us about the different styles of women's shirts?

There are several signature styles that return every season. These include the Corazon shirt and the Coraz shirt, which are the first styles of women's shirts. These are usually classic, more fitted shirts. They're pretty similar, but the collar on the Corazon shirt is smaller and more feminine, whereas the collar on the Coraz shirt is wider and more reminiscent of men’s clothing. However, they both have exactly the same fitted silhouette.

We'll be able to find the Cinema Shirt, which is feminine in style but oversized, roomier, and loose-fitting with a dropped armhole. In the same collection, you’ll also find the Charlot shirt, but it has a narrower collar than the Cinéma shirt, which gives it an even more feminine look.

The Cover Shirt, which has a more masculine style, is longer than the others. It’s the Piqué boyfriend shirt—borrowed from men.

In summary:

  • The CORAZON and CORAZ shirts are regular-fit styles
  • The COVER, CINEMA, and CHARLOT shirts are oversized styles

WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE WOMEN'S SHIRT WITH A FIT?

The Cover Shirt. Because it has that androgynous vibe that I love. And I’m getting it in a larger size to really emphasize the oversized look. I’d pair it with our Vibrant trench coat and the Pilote pants—which are quite long and wide—for a more casual, urban look. And I’d accessorize with a scarf.

And by the way, we've also just created a new shirt design, the Casta shirt. It’s a short-sleeved shirt with a slightly oversized fit. It features a lovely panel detail on the sleeve and a nice neckline that’s somewhat reminiscent of a Polo shirt. And if I were to put together an outfit with it, I’d pair it with the Poli pants and the Vamos jacket.

WHY ARE THESE MODELS SO ICONIC, AND WHY DO YOU LIKE THEM SO MUCH?

The fabric plays a big role, and it also depends on the print. But I think what people like is that we have four basic fits that suit just about every woman. Every woman can find a style that suits her among the Hartford shirt designs.

I’m a men’s designer at Hartford. My role involves conceptualizing and designing the brand’s men’s collections, blending vintage and more contemporary inspirations. I focus particularly on selecting fabrics, fits, and colors to create timeless pieces with that casual-chic twist that’s unique to Hartford. At Hartford, we draw heavily on the heritage of American workwear, tailoring, and iconic pieces from the ’70s and ’80s. This translates into authentic fabrics, such as Chambray, Flannel, and washed linen, adapted to today’s needs and our customers’ feedback.

Can you tell us about the different styles of men's shirts?

First, there’s the Paul shirt, a casual shirt which is one of the brand's earliest designs. It's a timeless piece. This shirt has a more relaxed vibe, thanks to its regular fit and soft collar. The Paul's shirt is given a modern twist through the choice of fabrics, the right color, or the right stripe… and that’s what makes it timeless and classic at Hartford.

Our second iconic model is the Pitt shirt, which has a strong American influence. With its very casual look, it’s worn unbuttoned over a T-shirt. It’s the American version of the Paul shirt. It’s much more casual than the Paul shirt, thanks in part to its button-down collar. We’ve also made it in Oxford fabrics, so it can be worn in a more sophisticated way.

The Paul shirt and the Pitt shirt complement each other, each serving a different purpose. What makes these styles work so well is their versatility. They can be worn in both formal and casual settings. They have been available for years in a variety of fabrics and colors, for both summer and winter, making them a staple in any man’s wardrobe.

In summary:

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MEN'S SHIRT?

So this season, I really like the Linen shirts...it makes the look even more laid-back. For example, I’d go with the Paul white linen shirt, which I’d wear open over a striped T-shirt, and pair it all with our favorite pants, the Fatigue in khaki. It’s a great look for the weekend—very casual. Otherwise, I also really like a good striped shirt like the Pitt in blue-and-white striped oxford, worn buttoned up over a gray T-shirt and paired with light-colored pants like the Tyron. It creates a pretty bright, cool look for sunny days! And I’d add a Cap to complete the look.
