alfama

STEP 1 - CULINARY ADDRESSES

Alfama charms visitors with its authentic atmosphere and winding streets lined with small cafés and artisan shops. The legendary tram No. 28 crisscrosses the neighborhood, offering a ride at the pace of the city to the heights of Lisbon. From the Graça viewpoint, the view stretches over the rooftops and the Tagus River, and in the evening, the atmosphere becomes more intimate: in some restaurants, fado singers accompany the meal for a local immersion.

Our selection of local gourmet addresses:

  • Casa Sao Miguel With its unique interior inspired by the early 20th century, Casa Sao-Miguel is undoubtedly one of the most hidden gems in the streets of Alfama, where you can enjoy a good coffee accompanied by a Portuguese delicacy.
  • Antù : Located in one of the neighborhood's iconic buildings, Antù is a concept restaurant offering a varied experience. Discover three floors of Portuguese art and history, as well as a refined menu to enjoy on their beautiful terrace.
  • Lautasco : At the end of a typical alleyway lies Lautasco, a restaurant with an authentic, unpretentious atmosphere. We particularly love the selection of fish and the terrace.
  • Santo Antonio Pastry Shop : a hidden gem where you can enjoy what is undoubtedly one of the best pastéis de nata in Lisbon, which you simply have to taste to understand its flavors. Eat it on the spot, while it's still warm, for an unforgettable taste experience.

STEP 2 - WALK & DISCOVER

Explore the cobbled streets of the bohemian Bairro Alto neighborhood, where a unique atmosphere unfolds around every corner. Along the way, soak up the warm atmosphere, with its cafés, small craft shops, and colorful street art. Take the Bica funicular for a typical Lisbon experience, visit the magnificent Church of Saint Roch, then climb up to the Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara for breathtaking views of the city. After sunset, the neighborhood comes alive: crowds gather in the bars, while traditional restaurants resonate with the sounds of fado, for a typical Lisbon evening.

  • Diário de Notícias Street : the main street in the Bairro Alto district. This lively street has retained its old-world charm with its buildings covered in azulejos and wrought-iron balconies. It's a great place to start if you want to wander aimlessly through the streets of Lisbon.
  • Bica Funicular In the steep streets of Lisbon, the Bica funicular railway has been running since 1892, connecting the lively Cais do Sodré neighborhood to the heights of Bairro Alto. Climbing the Rua da Bica de Duarte Belo, it passes through a picture-postcard setting: colorful facades, laundry hanging from balconies, and, below, a view that opens onto the Tagus River.
  • Luís de Camões Square Dominated by the statue of the epic poet Luís de Camões, it is lined with majestic buildings with classical facades and Portuguese calçada paving, Lisbon's typical black and white wave-patterned pavement.
  • São Pedro de Alcântara Viewpoint Perched on the heights of Bairro Alto, the Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara offers one of the most spectacular panoramic views of Lisbon. This terraced garden, adorned with statues and shaded benches, invites contemplation, whether at sunrise or sunset.

STEP 3 - FINAL STRINGS

Located on the banks of the Tagus River, Cais das Colunas is one of Lisbon's most iconic landmarks. These two marble columns, remnants of the old royal gate, once marked the solemn entrance of dignitaries arriving by river. Today, this quay offers a breathtaking view of the 25 de Abril Bridge and the sparkling horizon of the Tagus River. A popular place to stroll, it invites you to take a break by the tranquil waters, lulled by the unique atmosphere of the Portuguese capital. Between reflections on the water and majestic architecture, this iconic spot perfectly showcased our collection, combining elegance and timelessness in a setting steeped in history.
