HARTFORD IN LISBON

PART 1

Alfama

STEP 1 - CULINARY ADDRESSES

Alfama charms with its authentic atmosphere and winding streets lined with small cafes and artisan shops. The legendary tram number 28 crisscrosses the neighborhood, offering a city-inspired ride to the heights of Lisbon. From the Graça viewpoint, the view stretches across the rooftops and the Tagus River, and in the evening, the atmosphere becomes more intimate: in some restaurants, fado singers accompany the meal for a local immersion.

Our selection of local and gourmet addresses:

  • Casa Sao Miguel : A café and pastry shop with a unique interior inspired by the early 20th century, Casa Sao Miguel is undoubtedly one of the most hidden spots on the streets of Alfama to enjoy a good coffee accompanied by a Portuguese delicacy.
  • Antù : Located in the heart of one of the neighborhood's iconic buildings, Antù is a concept restaurant that offers a diverse experience. Discover three floors of Portuguese art and history, as well as a refined menu to enjoy on their beautiful terrace.
  • Lautasco : At the end of a typical alleyway lies Lautasco, where an authentic and unpretentious atmosphere reigns. We love the selection of fish and its terrace.
  • Pastelaria Santo Antonio : a secret spot where you can taste, without a doubt, one of the best pastéis de nata in Lisbon, one that must be tasted to truly understand its flavors. Eat it on site, still warm, for an unforgettable taste experience.

BAIRO ALTO

STEP 2 - WALK & DISCOVER

Discover the cobblestone streets of the bohemian Bairro Alto neighborhood, where a unique atmosphere is revealed around every corner. Along the way, soak up the cozy atmosphere, featuring cafés, small artisan shops, and colorful street art. Take the Bica funicular for a truly Lisbon experience, visit the magnificent Church of São Roque, and then climb to the Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara for breathtaking views of the city. After sunset, the neighborhood comes alive: crowds gather in the bars, while traditional restaurants fill with fado music, for a truly Lisbon evening.

  • Rua do Diário de Notícias : the main street of the Biarro Alto district. Lively, it has retained its old-world charm with its azulejo-covered buildings and wrought iron balconies. A lovely starting point for wandering the streets of Lisbon.
  • Bica Funicular : The Bica Funicular has been plying its way through Lisbon's steep streets since 1892, connecting the lively Cais do Sodré district to the heights of Bairro Alto. As it climbs Rua da Bica de Duarte Belo, it passes through a picture-postcard setting: colorful facades, laundry hanging from balconies, and, below, a view overlooking the Tagus River.
  • Praça Luís de Camões : dominated by the statue of the epic poet Luís de Camões, it is lined with majestic buildings with classical facades and calçada portuguesa paving, the typical Lisbon floor with undulating black and white patterns.
  • Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara : Perched high above Bairro Alto, the Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara offers one of the most spectacular panoramas in Lisbon. This terraced garden, adorned with statues and shaded benches, invites contemplation, whether at sunrise or sunset.

STEP 3 - FINAL STROLLS

Located on the banks of the Tagus River, Cais das Colunas is one of Lisbon's most iconic landmarks. These two marble columns, remnants of the former Royal Gate, once marked the solemn entrance of dignitaries arriving by river. Today, this quayside offers a breathtaking panorama of the 25th of April Bridge and the shimmering horizon of the Tagus. A popular place for a stroll, it invites you to pause overlooking the tranquil waters, lulled by the unique atmosphere of the Portuguese capital. Between reflections on the water and majestic architecture, this iconic spot perfectly showcased our collection, blending elegance and timelessness in a setting steeped in history.
