Caring for Linen

IN THREE STEPS

1. WASH THE LINEN

To care for your linen garments, we recommend hand washing. However, machine washing is possible, provided you use a delicate cycle at 30°C to preserve the fibers’ softness. Dry cleaning, on the other hand, is strongly discouraged. Also, be sure to wash your items inside out and separate light-colored items to prevent color transfer. Many items, such as our men’s linen shirts, are garment-dyed, which gives them a subtle color and a soft feel. Washing does not alter the quality of the fabric, but this process is designed to allow the color to evolve over time, creating a natural patina that makes each piece unique.

  • Hand wash or machine wash on the delicate cycle at 30°C
  • Wash inside out
  • Separate the colors from the lighter shades

2. Dry the linen

Drying is an essential step in caring for your linen garments. We recommend air-drying them away from direct sunlight to preserve the fabric’s fibers and color. Naturally light and flowing, linen tends to wrinkle, a characteristic appreciated for its authentic charm. However, machine drying may exaggerate this effect or even cause shrinkage. To minimize wrinkles, it is best to hang your garments on a hanger immediately after washing. If they remain too wrinkled after drying, ironing may be considered. To preserve the fabric, we recommend ironing it inside out while the fabric is still slightly damp, using a hot iron set to no higher than 150°C.

  • Air-dry on a hanger
  • Iron while damp and inside out at 150°C

3. LINEN THROUGH THE AGES

Linen is a natural fabric that improves with age. Its fibers become softer with each wash, offering an increasingly soft feel and a fluid drape without losing any of its quality. However, caring for linen requires keeping your garments in the best possible condition by following a few precautions: when not worn, we recommend storing linen in a dry place, away from moisture and direct light, to prevent any fading. Fold items neatly or use a hanger for more structured pieces to minimize creases. Unlike other fabrics, linen does not require a plastic cover, which could trap moisture and damage the fibers.

  • Store in a dry place away from light
  • Prioritize hanging storage
